Bubba Watson adds gold to his collection

It’s only Tuesday, but Bubba Watson is already receiving hardware.

PING Chairman and CEO John Solheim presented the defending Masters Champion with a gold putter head around 12:10 p.m. today outside the Augusta National scoring building. The putter was inscribed: Bubba Watson the Masters Champion 2014.

“Man, this thing is heavy,” said Watson, as he lifted the solid gold putter head. “I can’t thank PING enough for this.”

Solheim thanked Watson, saying, “We appreciate all you do for us.”

Tuesday marked the second solid-gold club head Watson has received from PING.

Following the 2012 Masters, he received the head of a gold wedge – which he made famous after his shot on No. 10 in his playoff victory.

After receiving today’s memento, Watson went directly to No. 10 to play the back nine.
