Watering the water? Augusta National continues storm cleanup

Augusta National continues storm cleanup before Masters Tournament

A few patrons finding their seats before today's Par-3 Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club may have been scratching their heads when groundskeeper appeared to start watering Ike's Pond, the body of water near the eighth and ninth holes.

Massive amounts of water streamed out of two fire hoses toward strategic spots on the pond. The groundskeepers weren't watering the water, they were using the jets to move storm debris, including leaves and pinestraw, from the center of the pond to the edges, where large nets scooped them up.

The large, beautifying effort came in an attempt to clear the pond of debris before ESPN's broadcast of the Par-3 Tournament goes on the air at 3 p.m.
