Devon Bling didn’t finish his first Masters Tournament the way he wanted, but his head is held high nonetheless.

Grouped with 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed, Bling posted four bogeys in his first nine holes, and despite a 35 coming in, he shot 73 to finish at 3-over 291 and 55th place.

“It was a little bit of a different start, but still just went out there with the same game plan that I've had the last two days,” he said of starting on the second nine because of the movement of tee times. “I didn't make any putts today. It was just I hit a lot of good putts, just nothing went in, and you're just going to have some of those days, it's golf.”

The sophomore from UCLA finished third among the four amateurs, six shots behind low amateur Viktor Hovland.

For Bling, participating in the Masters and making the cut are what he'll remember.

“I finished. I played four rounds at the Masters in my first Masters, that's a pretty big accomplishment,” he said. “It is my first start and first start in a professional tournament, let alone a major, and I make the cut. So it's a huge confidence boost the entire week and, sure, I might be a little disappointed on my round today, but overall I'm definitely not.”
