After birdies on holes 2 and 3 and a bogey on No. 5, Conners aced the par-3 sixth hole during Saturday's third round to go to 5-under.

He has four previous Masters appearances, with his best result being a fourth-place tie in 2020.

The first hole-in-one in Masters history was also by a Canadian - C. Ross Somerville, who used a Mashie Niblick to ace the 145-yard 7th hole in 1934 (now the 16th hole).

Masters participants can qualify for awards for "outstanding feats" during the tournament, according to tournament officials. Conners' ace qualifies him for large engraved crystal bowl with the Masters logo on it.
