Augusta Commissioner Bill Fennoy suggests patrons try Augusta Public Transit as a painless way to get to Augusta National Golf Club.

The District 1 commissioner took the bus Thursday to attend the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Red Carpet Tour event, held at a tent across Washington Road from Magnolia Lane, and the first day of Masters Tournament play.

“I didn’t have to worry about finding a place to park or getting jammed up in traffic,” Fennoy said. “I probably had to walk two blocks.”

The city bus stops in front of the Master’s Plaza at 2621 Washington Road and at National Hills shopping center, with eastbound stops across Washington Road.

Fennoy said he parked his car at the Broad Street transfer station and took the Washington Road route.

Starting at the transfer station, the bus runs the route about every 40 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. weekdays and on 80-minute intervals from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The fare is $1.25, and there is no service on Sundays.
