2014 weather in Augusta
Thunderstorms today in Augusta continue a pattern of bad weather the city has endured so far this year.
On Jan. 28-29, a winter storm dumped between 1.5 to 2 inches of snow on Richmond County. Atlanta took the brunt of the storm, with the snow causing massive traffic jams around the city.
Two weeks later, Winter Storm Pax crippled Augusta, knocking out power for several days. Worse, ice knocked down trees and limbs throughout the city, including Ike's Pine at No. 17 at Augusta National Golf Club. The cleanup cost has climbed to more than $16.4 million.
Weather is expected to improve this week. There's a 20 percent chance of showers the next two days, but the Masters Tournament is expected to see dry, warmer conditions.
