Furyk offers advice for newcomers
Jim Furyk is a veteran of the Masters Tournament, having played in 17 over an 18-year span.
With a large number of first-time players in the 2014 Masters, the 43-year-old Furyk offered advice for the newcomers playing Augusta National Golf Club.
“I would say just pace yourselves,” Furyk said. “It’s good to take a breather and not play too much early. They will get excited to be here, but if you play so many practice rounds early in the week, you can get worn out by Thursday.”
Furyk also said it’s good for first-time participants to talk to veterans of the tournament to pick up tips on certain shots or holes.
Furyk’s best finish in the Masters is fourth in 1998 and 2003. He has made 15 of 17 cuts.
He enters this year with two top-10 finishes in six tournaments, including tied for sixth in the Valero Texas Open in late March.
