Stricker feels "a lot better" heading into Masters

Steve Stricker’s Masters Tournament preparation wasn’t about crowding his schedule with tournaments.

Instead, this past weekend’s Shell Houston Open was his first tournament since the Doral in early March.

In Houston, Stricker posted 68-69 the first two rounds before finishing tied for 24th. Going into his 14th Masters, the Wisconsin native hopes his limited playing time helps him.

Stricker has been dealing with a herniated disk in his neck and back in recent years, and believes the rest has been good for his health and ability to stay fresh.

“I think the lack of play has definitely helped in that department,” Stricker said. “I feel as good as I’ve ever felt to tell you the truth. I’ve worked out a lot more over the wintertime, lost some weight. Physically, I feel a lot better.”
