Donald scoring question will not lead to disqualification

Problem resolved after misread smudge led to temporary scoring error

A scoring question that forced the Augusta National Golf Club's scoring committee to consider disqualifying Luke Donald from the Masters Tournament has been resolved.

Donald, who will not be disqualified, said he shot a 3-over 75 in the first round, including a bogey on the par-4 fifth. The club confirmed that he did sign a scorecard that reflected that score and an "administrating error" recorded Donald's score as a 1-over 73 with a birdie on the fifth.

A smudge on the card faxed to the club's scoring headquarters was read as a 3 for the fifth hole instead of a 5.
