'Tiger has no rival'
Hunter Mahan practically scoffed at the notion Tuesday at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Doral when he was asked if Rory McIlroy, the new No. 1-ranked player, would soon create a rivalry with Tiger Woods.
Woods is winless on the is the PGA Tour since Sept. 2009, but is regaining his game after tying for second last week to McIlroy in the Honda Classic, where he closed with 62.
Said Mahan, who won the Match Play Championship two weeks ago:
"Tiger doesn't have a rival. Just look at the record. I mean, there is none. His rival is Jack Nicklaus. It's hard to put anyone up there right now with him. I understand his last few years haven't been his best and everything that's going on, but that guy, he's had numbers that no one has even thought about reaching."
