Will Tiger be healthy for Masters?

After Tiger Woods’ latest withdrawal from a PGA Tour event, the question is whether he will be healthy enough to play in this year’s Masters.

History says yes. Recent performance says maybe.

Woods withdrew Thursday in the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, a course he has played well on through the years. He cited back pain as the reason for withdrawing.

Last week, Woods missed the cut in Phoenix after a career-worst 82 in the second round.

Woods missed the Masters a year ago for the first time in his career. He had back surgery in March and, since then, he has missed three cuts and withdrawn twice in six starts.

Woods is a four-time Masters winner, but his last victory at Augusta National came a decade ago in 2005.

Woods’ next start is likely the Honda Classic at the end of this month. Currently, he is not eligible for the World Golf Championship event at Doral.

The Masters is two months away. Here’s hoping that a healthy Woods is in Augusta this spring.
