After winning gold, Rose is going for green jacket

Justin Rose won gold in the 2016 Olympic Games. Now, he’s going for the green jacket.

Rose posted 5-under-par 67 today to finish with a 6-under-par 210 total through 54 holes at the Masters Tournament. He is tied with Sergio Garcia, who birdied two holes on the second nine for 70.

Rose and Garcia will go off in the final pairing Sunday. The Europeans are being chased by four Americans.

Rickie Fowler birdied two of the final six holes for 71. He is alone in third place at 5-under.

Jordan Spieth birdied three holes in a four-hole stretch late on the front nine and finished with 68. The 2015 Masters champion, who has a win and two runner-up finishes in his three previous Masters appearances, is tied for fourth with Ryan Moore, who posted his second consecutive 69 and Charley Hoffman (72).

Adam Scott, the 2013 Masters champion, posted his second consecutive 69 and is alone in seventh at 213.

Charl Schwartzel, the 2011 Masters champion, made eagle at No. 15 and finished at 68. He is alone in eighth place at 214.

Lee Westwood and Thomas Pieters are tied for ninth place at 215. Westwood birdied three of his final six holes for 68, while Pieters closed with bogey for 75.

Rory McIlroy, the No. 2 player in the world, posted his first under-par round of the tournament with 71. He is tied for 11th with five others at 216.

Rose, the 36-year-old Englishman, shares the 54-hole lead at the Masters for the first time. He led the tournament after the first round three times , while he also led at the halfway mark in 2004. Rose has four top-10 finishes in 11 Masters appearances.

Garcia, the 37-year-old Spaniard making his 19th Masters appearance, is leading the tournament for just the second time. He led after the first round in 2013 before finishing in a tie for eighth, one of just three top-10 finishes at the Masters.
