Aussie patrons show support through attire
A group of Masters Tournament patrons from Australia returned for the fifth year with flashy new pants resembling their country’s flag.
“We went out and upgraded our wardrobe,” said Claude Antonucci, of Sydney. “We had to keep up with the other Aussies.”
Australian golf fans are known for sporting pants, shirts and jackets that show pride for their countrymen playing in the Masters. Antonucci; Shaun McGovern, also of Sydney; and Tony McCosker, of Canberra, followed Adam Scott, Jason Day and John Senden on the course Saturday.
“The players love our support, too,” Antonucci said.
The group would also be happy for Jordan Spieth to win the Masters. McGovern shook hands with him in the Sydney airport the day after his November win at the Australian Open.
“He’s a nice guy. Seems to have time for everyone,” McGovern said.
The three Aussie fans are business partners in the carpet and flooring industry.
