Woodland ties front-nine record
Gary Woodland gave this year’s moving day a record-tying first nine.
Woodland shot 30 on the front nine Saturday and tied the record shared by Johnny Miller (1975), Greg Norman (1988), K.J. Choi (2004) and Phil Mickelson (2009).
Woodland’s historic first nine and a birdie on No. 10 took him from 3-over to 4-under and in a tie for second. He later bogeyed No. 11 and double-boyeged No. 12. Two more bogeys left him even for the tournament.
The day’s first group, Rory McIlroy and marker Jeff Knox, have finished their rounds.
Leader Bubba Watson, at 7-under, is scheduled to tee off at 2:45 p.m.
