Woods needs to make up plenty ground to win fifth green jacket
If Tiger Woods is going to win his fifth green jacket, he’ll have to make up plenty of ground.
Woods struggled throughout Friday’s second round and finished with 3-over-par 75. He is eight shots behind co-leaders Fred Couples and Jason Dufner.
Coming off his win at Bay Hill two weeks earlier, Woods seemed to have plenty of momentum. But he had issues with his driver Thursday and continued his rough patch Friday. Woods, who teed off in the afternoon, finished the front nine with 37 before making bogey at No. 11. He went left at No. 13, hit his second shot into a bad lie just over the tributary of Rae’s Creek, took an unplayable lie, pitched close and made par.
After hitting a good drive at No. 15, he missed his second shot right of the greenside bunker. He then hit his wedge shot into the sand, blasted out and made par.
Woods has yet to take advantage of the par-5 holes through two rounds. He’s made seven pars and one birdie.
At the par-3 16th, Woods displayed his frustration. After losing his tee shot right into the front bunker, he dropped his iron and then kicked it several feet.
