Masters outing a 50th birthday present for Atlanta man
It was a very special 50th birthday for David Beltrami.
Beltrami’s brother-in-law, Greg Harris, surprised the Atlanta attorney last week with an invitation to Thursday’s first round of the Masters Tournament.
On his birthday, the pair drove in from Atlanta and enjoyed a day at the tournament, spending several hours at the No. 8 tee.
“Sitting here, you don’t realize how big the crowds are,” said Harris, who got the badges from a friend’s mother.
“This place is just beautiful,” Beltrami said of his first visit to Augusta National Golf Club.
A morning highlight was watching Thursday’s early round leader Charley Hoffman and Brian Harman play through the 16th.
“We watched Charley Hoffman and his partner put the ball within 10 feet of the cup,” Beltrami said.
“The food is really good and the prices are really good,” he said, favoring the barbecue sandwich and its $3 price tag.
At the gift shop, Beltrami picked up several souvenirs, including a deck of cards for his son, who likes to perform magic tricks, and an exercise shirt with a Masters logo for himself.
