Matt Kuchar wins celebrity doubles match with Venus Williams

Matt Kuchar has captured one victory this week: He and Venus Williams won a celebrity doubles match Monday against Luke and Murphy Jensen at the Cloister Tennis Center in Sea Island, Ga.

Kuchar qualified the victory (he and Williams won 6-3 in the one-set exhibition) and said it was hit-and-giggle tennis.

“We had fun out there and at one point Luke Jensen pulled a girl out of the stands and she played one game for him,” Kuchar said. “No one was really worried about winning or losing.”

Kuchar said he enjoyed the experience of playing with Williams, a five-time Wimbledon champion. He said she still has some fuel in the tank.

“She pounded a couple,” he said.
