Patrons have Masters story to bring home to Canada
Tim Geddes wasn’t long into his first and only day at the Masters when he had a story to bring home to Niagara Falls, Canada.
He and friend Marc Henry were at No. 12 and saw Miguel Angel Jimenez and two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal (1994, ’99) during a practice round. It turns out the two veteran pros from Spain are like the rest of us in some ways.
“They made sure they took a selfie together, and they got pictures with their caddies, too, together and separately, which was really nice,” said Geddes, who also heard a bit of their conversation at the No. 9 tee.
“Miguel hit first and told Jose Maria, ‘You might be able to hit it further, but you won’t hit it better than me,’ ” Geddes said.
Geddes said Henry received two tickets after 10 years of enterting the lottery, so Geddes took off a week from work. Geddes is a control room operator at a paper mill.
“Think Homer Simpson,” he said with a laugh.
