Rain, thunderstorms likely to strike Friday
Masters patrons should pack their umbrellas and listen for thunder today, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
Rain, possibly even severe thunderstorms, could hit the Augusta area between 4 and 6 p.m., potentially bringing hail and damaging winds. The rain will continue through this evening, gradually dissipating Saturday morning.
Meteorologist Chris Rohrbach said it’s important to pay attention to thunder, too.
“They should keep in mind that if they can hear thunder, they are close enough to the storm to be struck by lightning. Anyone at the Masters will need to seek out shelter if they witness that,” Rohrbach said. “And be sure to move away from tall objects like trees.”
