Old-fashioned Cooking, Good Southern Food at Goolsby’s

Go back in time with the Southern homecooking at Goolsby's. "It's a place to quickly be served, but with product that takes you back to a slower time," said owner Richard Goolsby. Goolsby fashioned his cooking after the old-fashioned methods of Southern homecooking. He began his venture, in 1982, cooking on Saturdays for lunch at his 100-year-old, family-owned country store in Lincolnton, Ga. After the store became a full-fledged restaurant, Goolsby moved it to Evans to present it to a community that appreciates good Southern food in 2007. "Stop by and walk through our serving line and walk out with a full meal for everyone at home in about 5 minutes," Goolsby said. It's a casual family atmosphere, but you can also enjoy it at home. Out of the 28 different items on the serving line, the most popular are the barbeque chicken with its original barbecue sauce and the fresh fried pork steak with gravy. According to Goolsby, his customers have told him that the food reminds them of a place and time in their own life that they are fond of. Goolsby's won Best New Local Restaurant in 2007 and has won Best Down-Home Cooking every year since they opened in Evans.
