1934 Masters ticket up for auction

The Masters is less than two weeks away, and that means that some rare items will be up for auction soon.
The big item so far is a 1934 Sunday ticket for the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. According to thegolfauction.com, it is one of only six such tickets known to exist.
“There is not a Masters badge collector alive who would not be interested in this badge as it either fills a gaping gap, or is a tremendous upgrade to the most revered item in their collection,” said Kenley Matheny, president of The Golf Auction.
Since the Masters is known as one of the toughest tickets in sports, interest in the badges and tickets is high. Matheny expects the 1934 blue paper ticket, which includes the number 1185 and the final day of the tournament, to generate plenty of bidders.
Other Masters-related items in the same auction are a 1935 Masters badge, 1938 Masters badge and a “pristine” 1934 program that is extremely rare.
The auction begins March 28 and will end April 8, the final day of the tournament, with extended bidding starting at 6 p.m. Interested collectors can register at www.Thegolfauction.com or call (813) 340-6179.
