• Won seven tournaments including Maccauvlei club championship, Eastern Gauteng Open and Harry Oppenheimer Trophy

• Selected for Central Gauteng junior team

• Shot 65 in final round to win South Africa U/16 North vs. South

• Runner-up in Jack Newton Invitational in Australia

 

2000

• Won 10 tournaments including George Junior Open (national championship)

• Set tournament records at Harry Oppenheimer (8-under), S.A. high schools provincial (14-under) and International Team Championships (12-under)

• Shot 63 for the first time at age 15

• Finished ninth in South African Amateur

• Selected to the South Africa junior team and Central Gauteng U/23 team

 

2001

• Tied for fourth in South African Amateur

• Won 12 tournaments including South African Junior Strokeplay

• Named South African junior golfer of the year

• Won World Junior Team Championship in Japan (with Louis Oosthuizen)

 

2002

• Won eight amateur tournaments

• Won Freddie Tait Trophy as low amateur in South African Open, breaking Ernie Els’ amateur scoring record at 8-under

• Named South African Amateur of the Year

• Turned professional Oct. 31
